Description

Diabetes is not a one size fits all health state.  Creating a learning environment that promotes optimal education and motivation for the person with diabetes is key to successful implementation.  Identifying learning styles and adjusting the education environment based on participant dynamics yields improved health outcomes, increases achievement of patient centered goals and sustains program growth. In this session you will learn how two programs deliver care and education in suburban and rural populations.

Learning Outcome

Attendees will have the skills to create dynamic education programs based on the population, interactive curriculum, class size and differentiating education needs of the virtual learner and the in-person learner.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:

  1. Design a DSMT learning format unique to participant dynamics
  2. Use key demographic factors to create educational content that is relevant to the participant population
  3. Develop appropriate learning strategies based on group/individual barriers

This is a knowledge-based learning activity. This 60-minute online session includes a presentation followed by a question and answer period.
