DANA: On-Demand Technology Expert at Your Fingertips

Aug 10, 2018, 10:00 AM

It’s hard to underestimate the value of an expert on demand. How many times have you needed expert advice on something and been able to get it immediately? What if you could just look up the answer like you do for anything else in real life? In real life, when my niece says “flossing” is cool and I need to figure out what in the world that is — I google it (I’ve linked to a tutorial for parents just in case you were wondering too). But what if I want to know the different types of infusion sets among different pumps? Or what if I want to know whether a specific insulin is available as a pen or smart pen? Or what if you have a patient who needs a talking meter and you aren’t sure which one is the best choice? That’s not easily answered with Google. This is where DANA comes in.

You no longer need to wait around for a webinar or an annual meeting to get a list of great apps or information on the newest technology. You now have the information on demand.

The Diabetes Advance Network Access is a website included in AADE's member benefits, where you can find expert answers to technology, devices, supplies and use cases for yourself and your patients. Want to know which app to recommend to a patient who is trying to count calories, carbs and exercise? Try DANA! You no longer need to wait around for a webinar or an annual meeting (or ask me in the bathroom – yes this happens) to get a list of great apps or information on the newest technology. You now have the information on demand. Tech changes faster than any single person can keep up, so lean on DANA to do it for you.

No more excuses, no more missing out on great technology and no more missed opportunities to talk about tech with your patients. Use DANA as your resource to stay up to date and discover new products. One of the things I've always wanted was a place I could go to learn about new technology – without having to leave the office, the desk or your pajamas. A resource like DANA has been something I’ve wished for, longed for, hoped for — but never really thought would ever be available. Why? Because it’s hard, complicated and expensive; however, AADE tackles hard things all the time. I’m honored to be a member of such a forward thinking and moving association. I hope you will try out DANA and use the expert at your fingertips to help you navigate the ever-changing landscape of tech and diabetes.
