MiniMed Mobile App

The MiniMed Mobile app gives people with diabetes the ability to view insulin pump and CGM (continuous glucose monitoring) data from their smartphone or Apple® Watch. Users can track glucose levels and receive notifications when their levels are out of range. Also, the Sync to CareLink™ feature allows users to securely share app data with care partners.
The app is compatible with Medtronic's MiniMed™ 700-series insulin pumps. 

Who Is the MiniMed Mobile App Best Suited For?
The app is for:
  • individuals with diabetes who want to view and track glucose and insulin pump data on their smartphone or Apple Watch
  • anyone with diabetes who uses a 700 Series Medtronic pump: 770G or 780G
  • people with diabetes who want to share data with one or more care partners using the CareLink System.

Using the app, users can view:

Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) is structured around seven diabetes self-care behaviors, known as the ADCES7 Self-Care Behaviors®. Diabetes care and education specialists can help you set priorities and work with you on improving your own management in each of the following areas:

  • Being Active - Making exercise a daily lifestyle habit.
  • Taking Medication - Adhering to prescribed medication in terms of timing, dosage, frequency, and duration.
  • Monitoring - Tracking data influencing diabetes outcomes.
  • Problem Solving - Identifying and solving issues for better diabetes outcomes.

The user's mobile device needs internet access and Bluetooth capabilities to support the MiniMed Mobile app. Users should see if their mobile device is compatible.

For successful app use, individuals must:
  • use Medtronic's MiniMed 700-series insulin pump
  • have a compatible smartphone 
  • keep the pump within 20 feet of the app-equipped mobile device.
  • have a CareLink Personal account.
Is the MiniMed Mobile App Safe and Secure?
Yes, users enter their CareLink account username and password to log into the MiniMed Mobile app.

The MiniMed™ Mobile app with the MiniMed™ 780G system can be used with the Apple® watch.

The app cannot:

  • work with any pump besides Medtronic's MiniMed 700-series insulin pump
  • modify or analyze patient CGM or insulin pump data
  • control any function of the insulin pump or CGM system
  • make treatment decisions.

  • Turn on notifications in the mobile device operating system to pair the insulin pump.
  • Allow the app to run in the background to keep data updated. 
  • Enable the Sync to CareLink feature to share data with a care partner and link your CareLink™ Personal account with your care partner's CareLink System account.
  • Place the pump within 20 feet of the mobile device that has the downloaded MiniMed Mobile app for successful syncing.
  • Note that only individuals using the 780G system with the MiniMed Mobile app on their smartphone can view their data on the Apple Watch.

This app is for the person with diabetes, but providers can recommend the app to patients. Users can share key data with care partners using the CareLink System.

The MiniMed Mobile app can help people with diabetes conveniently manage their condition. Receiving key data and notifications on their smartphone or Apple Watch may help users keep their glucose levels within range and respond proactively to glucose values. 
Professional Portal Availability:
Providers can view shared patient data using the CareLink System and the CareLink Connect app .

The app is free to download on Apple or Android devices. Users do not need a license or subscription.
