  • Cequr is a beneficial insulin delivery system for adults on MDI who miss boluses due to injection burden, needle anxiety, or social stigma— it is not for patients seeking basal coverage or automated delivery.
  • Cequr delivers insulin at a 2-unit fixed increment- discuss with the provider managing the person’s diabetes that mealtime doses must be in 2 unit increments.
  • Training is fast- most trainings are under 30 minutes in length. Contact your CeQur Simplicity representative about becoming a product trainer.
  • The patch can be worn for 4 day- fill with up to a 4-day supply of U-100 rapid acting insulin (minimum fill 100–200-unit max). The patch may need to be changed sooner if rapid acting insulin needs are greater than 200 units for 4 days.
  • The patch is water resistant, but not fully waterproof. Prolonged submersion, heavy sweating or oily skin can compromise adhesion. There is no alert if the patch is dislodged.
  • Advise individuals to prep the site with alcohol, let it dry fully, and use medical-grade tape over the patch edges if adhesion is a concern. Check patch edges at each bolus.
  • Both buttons must be squeezed simultaneously to deliver a dose- this delivery requirement prevents inadvertent dosing during sleep or activity.
  • If buttons won't release after a squeeze, it signals either an empty reservoir or a cannula occlusion — not a device malfunction. Teach patients to change the patch and monitor glucose closely.
  • Use CGM data to assess post-meal patterns and validate that boluses are being delivered. The patch has no digital logging- CGM post-meal glucose curves are the primary tool for evaluating whether mealtime dosing is occurring, appropriately timed and correctly dosed.
  • Remind people with Type 1 Diabetes that DKA risk remains if the patch fails and goes undetected. Use CGM with the patch whenever possible, and establish a "patch fail" action plan at initiation, such as having rapid-acting insulin pens and pen needles or syringe available for emergencies.
