This 60-minute webinar will explore the critical intersection of health literacy and cultural competence in diabetes care. Using evidence-based strategies, participants will learn to assess literacy skills, apply culturally responsive communication techniques, and improve outcomes for people with diabetes across diverse populations.
Learning Outcome
Participants will be able to integrate culturally competent and literacy-sensitive approaches into diabetes education to improve self-management behaviors and clinical outcomes among diverse populations.

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
• Define personal and organizational health literacy and their role in DSMES.
• Identify strategies to incorporate cultural humility and sensitivity into patient interactions.
• Demonstrate communication techniques, such as plain language and teach-back, to enhance understanding and engagement.
