Alison Evert, MS, RDN, CDCES, FADCES is a registered dietitian and certified diabetes care and education specialist with over 40 years of experience. Over the years, she has worked in a variety of practice settings. Most recently, she managed a team of diabetes nutrition educators in the UW Medicine Primary Care network. Alison currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education. She was the recipient of the ADA's 2025 Outstanding Educator Award. She also recently co-edited the ADA's Guide to Diabetes Nutrition Therapy for healthcare professionals working in this field.
Synneva Hagen-Lillevik, PhD, MS, RD is a NIH T32 nutrition postdoctoral fellow in the
Department of Pediatrics, Section of Nutrition at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus under the mentorship of Dr. Teri Hernandez. She completed her PhD in Nutrition and Integrative Physiology at the University of Utah studying inborn errors of carbohydrate metabolism. Her prior postdoctoral work was sponsored by the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (ADCES), which focused on behavioral and qualitative research study design while working with women who experienced gestational diabetes in pregnancy. Her commitment to advancing women’s and child health outcomes with nutrition throughout the lifespan has remained a constant focus of her research pursuits.
Teresa Martin, MS, RDN, CDCES, LD has 35+ years of experience in clinical nutrition,
cardiometabolic health, and diabetes education. Based in Bend, Oregon, she spent 17
years as an Executive Cardiometabolic Educator at Novo Nordisk before having to make a quick decision about what she wanted to be when she grews up and decided to become a pump specialist with Beta Bionics. She now spends her time training patients and providers on the iLet bionic pancreas to help more people lower the burden of managing their diabetes. A national ADCES advocate, state ADA advocate, published researcher, volleyball player, and proud gut microbiome nerd — Teresa's lifelong mission is bridging the gap between evidence-based care and clinical practice, because every person living with diabetes deserves access to the best care science has to offer.
Grace Ling, MS, RD, CDCES is based in Seattle, WA where she runs an insurance-based private practice, Graceful Plate Nutrition. As a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, Grace supports clients in managing diabetes through an ethical, weight-inclusive, and person-centered approach, with a focus on the intersection of diabetes, eating disorders, and disordered eating.
Maureen Chomko, MS, RDN, CDCES, is a registered dietitian nutritionist and certified diabetes care and education specialist with Neighborcare Health where she assists in complex diabetes management and nutrition counseling for underserved populations at a Federally Qualified Health Center in South Seattle. She has authored chapters on nutrition and lifestyle management of type 2 diabetes for the American Diabetes Association, the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists and the Academy. With special interests in simplifying complex nutrition and diabetes topics and equitable access to care, she is committed to optimizing outcomes and improving quality of life for diverse communities.
Roger Piepenbrink, DO, MPH -- like the Beach Boys, “Gets around.” With 25 years military, 11 years private sector, too many college degrees, board certified in Internal Medicine, Adult Endocrinology, and Sleep Medicine, he’s practiced medicine in remarkably diverse areas, deserts (Oman & Mojave) to jungles (Thailand, Puerto Rico) , rural (Prineville Oregon) to metropolis (Bethesda). His special interest in the interaction of sleep and metabolism has led to a recurring book chapter entitled, “Sleep and Endocrine.” He enjoys reading –obviously-- as well as tennis and cycling.

Andrew Bzowyckyj, PharmD, BCPS, CDCES is a Senior Scientific Director & Learning Consultant with the National Kidney Foundation. In this role, he is primarily responsible for designing and developing educational programming for patients and healthcare professionals on a wide range of topics within the cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic paradigm. He is also engaged with various population health and community-based quality improvement initiatives. Before joining the NKF, he was a professor and clinical pharmacist for over a decade, engaging in clinical practice, precepting, and research in the outpatient endocrinology and primary care settings. He maintains academic appointments with A.T. Still University - Arizona School of Health Sciences and Oregon State University College of Pharmacy. Dr. Bzowyckyj earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Connecticut and completed his residency training at the University of Minnesota.
Rita Parsiani, PharmD, CDCES, BC-ADM is a Clinical Pharmacist at the Harold Schnitzer Diabetes Health Center at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Oregon. She specializes in diabetes care and leads an intensive outpatient program focused on comprehensive medication management for high-risk patients with diabetes. She believes every patient with diabetes deserves personalized, evidence-based care that goes beyond numbers to improve quality of life. Her published work highlights the value and impact pharmacists can have in an endocrinology setting. She has demonstrated that short-term intensive follow-up can significantly lower A1C levels, improve medication utilization, and optimize the use of diabetes technologies — empowering patients to achieve their glycemic goals. She serves as the primary preceptor for pharmacy learners at the diabetes center and holds academic appointments at the School of Medicine for the Division of PA Education and MD program.
Robert Wilechansky, MD is a transplant hepatologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University. He completed medical school at Columbia University in New York, followed by internal medicine residency and chief residency at Boston University Medical Center. He then completed his gastroenterology and transplant hepatology fellowships at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston before moving to Portland and beginning his first faculty position at OHSU in 2024. Dr. Wilechansky’s research focus is MASLD, specifically the relationship between eating behaviors, the metabolome, and disease progression and outcomes in MASLD. His research is funded by the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases Foundation, the Collins Medical Trust, and a KL2 award from the Oregon Clinical and Translational Research Institute.
Kathleen Cummer, PT, DPT, PhD is an Acting Assistant Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Washington. She is a physical therapist with doctoral training in orthopedics and sports medicine. Drawing from both her clinical expertise and her own lived experience with diabetes, Dr. Cummer is passionate about empowering people to integrate physical activity into their daily lives. Her research focuses on exercise participation for individuals living with diabetes and the role that physical therapists can play in supporting this goal.
T. Levi Lancaster, PharmD, BCACP, BC-ADM received his Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2014. He completed two years of residency in Olympia, Washington including one year of general practice residency at St Peter Hospital and a second year specializing in family medicine and chronic disease management at St Peter Family Medicine. He is board certified in ambulatory care and advanced diabetes management, and he has been teaching resident physicians and pharmacists since 2018 as the Faculty Pharmacist at Providence St. Peter Family Medicine. His professional interests include diabetes and cardiovascular risk management. He serves on the board of Type 1 United, which is a nonprofit organization that fosters community and empowers those living with Type 1 Diabetes through year-long programming for children, families and adults.
