2021 ADCES Diabetes Care and Education Specialist of the Year

Diabetes care and education specialists play a critical role as members of the diabetes care team to ensure people with diabetes receive the best person-centered care possible. This includes empowering people with diabetes to make healthy lifestyle choices and advocating for use of evidence-based therapies to prevent and/or delay diabetes-related complications. Fortunately for people with diabetes, incredible advances have been made in recent years offering additional options and strategies to improve outcomes for cardiometabolic and other diabetes-related complications.

Join us Friday, August 4 through Monday, August 7 in Houston, Texas to learn from an incredible slate of speakers about the newest research and standards of care management strategies for people with cardiometabolic conditions and other complications. Sessions range from strategies to safely implement lifestyle interventions to the optimization of evidence-based therapies. Specific topics include:

  • Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease
  • Heart failure
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)
  • Lipid management
  • Obesity management
  • Considerations for deprescribing in older adults
  • Link between the gut microbiome and Alzheimer's disease
  • Management of post-transplant diabetes

I’m incredibly excited about the educational and networking opportunities planned! ADCES23 is a great opportunity to learn from and engage with other diabetes care and education specialists from across the country. I hope to see you there!
