Katherine Trimino and Mayra Rivas are two dietitians working at an outpatient setting in Houston that serves many people with a high risk of developing type-2 diabetes and diabetes-related complications. Through AADE Foundation Scholarships, the two were able to attend AADE’s Annual Conference for the first time.

As the holiday season approaches, many will prepare to gather with family and friends to celebrate and give thanks. People with diabetes (PWD’s) are more susceptible to contagious illnesses; so pre-holiday education visits are an opportune time to promote vaccines.

The holiday season is here! Halloween is behind us and Thanksgiving is right around the corner. It’s several weeks of celebration, events and gatherings with family and friends — and lots of food and drink. Of course, people with diabetes can and should take part in the fun and festivities, but a plan will make sure they can have fun while being mindful of their diabetes management.
