Program Overview

People with diabetes face an increased risk of complications from vaccine-preventable diseases, yet vaccination rates remain below recommended levels. This webinar will provide healthcare professionals with an evidence-based review of current immunization recommendations for people with diabetes across the lifespan. Participants will explore key vaccination guidelines, review differences across recommending organizations, and learn practical strategies for identifying and addressing immunization gaps in clinical practice. The program will also examine common barriers to vaccination, including vaccine hesitancy, access challenges, and misinformation, while highlighting approaches to support informed decision-making and improve patient outcomes.

Learners will be able to identify and recommend vaccinations for people with diabetes.

At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:       
1. Utilize current guidelines to identify immunization gaps. 
2. Distinguish between recommendations from different organizations. 
3. Create a plan to ensure people with diabetes are protected against vaccine preventable diseases.

Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialists

To satisfy the requirements for renewal of certification for the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE), continuing education activities must be diabetes related and approved by a provider on the CBDCE list of Approved Providers (www.cbdce.org). CBDCE does not approve continuing education. The Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists is on the CBDCE list of Approved Providers.

Board Certified Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM)

CBDCE is the administering body for the Advanced Diabetes Management credential. Continuing education programs offered by ADCES can be used toward fulfilling BC-ADM certification and recertification requirements.
