AADE15: What's in it for you?
Mar 6, 2015, 00:00 AM
Every year I look at all the educational offerings for diabetes professionals throughout the country. There are more and more options to choose from with excellent speakers, locations, and continuing education hours. So why choose the AADE Annual Meeting?
Continuing education: For the individual new to a career in diabetes management and education, there are multiple educational sessions that will help to guide you. For those in the field for many years – Master Classes will update you on the newest medications, research progress on prevention, and updates on the newest technology to enhance the your ability to help education and provide management skills to patients with diabetes. Product Theaters are available to bring you up to date on the newest products on the market to not only help guide our patients but to also share the information with fellow providers at home.
Networking: I continue to say it, and truly believe it. Diabetes educators are some of the most generous and kindhearted people in any profession. They spend time educating and problem solving with their patients and are ready to share their own stories of successes and frustrations. So more than any other meeting, networking to share stories with others in the same career path is a huge plus in attending the AADE meeting each year.
Exhibits: The Exhibit Hall provides a hands on opportunity to see new books, educational materials and products. And I find it is also a great place to “run into” friends and colleagues!
Location: Although this is not the main reason most of us attend AADE annually – it surely is a draw this year! New Orleans is a fun place to socialize with colleagues and oh…..the food is SO GOOD!
Other offerings: In addition to the regular programming, there are pre-session workshops the Tuesday preceding the Annual Meeting offered each year. More CEs and an in-depth look at one or more topics of interest to the diabetes educator. This year one option is: Build an Education Program!
AADE15 Sessions on Demand: If you cannot attend physically, you can still join in for the continuing education credits and knowledge. Registration for AADE15 Sessions on Demand will be also be available. It certainly is not as exciting as being there – but an alternative way of keeping up to date in our ever advancing field of medicine.
AADE15 is August 5-8. Early bird registration is open! Sign up now to attend and obtain continuing education credits, enjoy the wide variety of educational topics available, connect with colleagues from around the country and enjoy time in the great city of New Orleans!
