Having Fun in Vegas

My blog yesterday was about all of the great educational experiences available at Annual Meeting. But, let’s be honest. A big part of attending the meeting is the fun! It is a way to visit a new city, meet up with friends and make new ones, and go to great events!
The Welcome Reception with Posters on Wednesday kicked it off. Then, there was the Beach Party and the Irish Coffee on Thursday. Networking, drinks, snacks, and dancing! But, since we are in Vegas, I want to tell you about one of my favorite things to see here.
The Lights of Bellagio combine music and synchronized dancing water fountains. There is a show every 15 minutes in the evening rotating through a few different songs. Getting there from Mandalay Bay is a bit of a walk; almost 2 miles. In Vegas distance, it is 7 hotel/casinos away. It is a fun walk if you are up for it.
But, there is another way to get there. Take the tram from Mandalay Bay or the Luxor to the Excalibur, cross over the road to New York, New York, and walk down the block to the Monte Carlo. There is a tram in this casino, hidden toward the back so follow the signs and/or ask someone. This takes you past Aria, behind the Cosmopolitan, to the Bellagio. Once inside, you can walk to the lobby to see the beautiful glass sculpture on the ceiling (Fiori Di Como by Dale Chihuly). Then go to the Conservatory and Botanical Gardens (behind the lobby). Last stop, the fountains in front of the hotel. Bring your camera and enjoy.
Friday and Saturday nights are open nights at the Annual Meeting so think about taking a stroll, or a ride, to the fountains.
Do you have another favorite thing to do for fun during Annual Meeting? Or when you are in Vegas? What is it?
