Description

The CDC-led National Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) has the potential to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes among adults at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes, including non-Hispanic Black adults, American Indian and Alaska Native adults, and adults with low socioeconomic status. Participants in this two-day workshop, designed specifically for those activating diabetes prevention programs within socially vulnerable communities, will learn how to understand the readiness of their community, assess the capacity of their organization, and discuss successful strategies to enroll, engage, and retain participants, build referral relationships with clinical and community partners, and develop sustainable programs.

Intended Audience

The ADCES Webinars are activities designed for individuals or groups of diabetes care and education specialists including RNs, RDs, Pharmacists, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Physician Assistants, MDs, and other health care providers interested in staying up to date on current practices of care for people with diabetes and other related conditions.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:
-- Understand the 2021 National Diabetes Prevention Recognition Program Standards and anticipated changes to the 2024 National Diabetes Prevention Recognition Program Standards
-- Explain how to assess community readiness and organizational capacity to deliver the National DPP within communities, working alongside partners and priority populations
-- Describe successful strategies to market the program, recruit, engage and retain participants, develop clinical and community referral networks, and secure coverage
-- Develop a tailored action plan focused on key elements of successful programs and the ROI for organizations

Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)

CDR Credentialed Practitioners will receive 10 Continuing Professional Education unit(s) (CPEU) for completion of this activity.
Completion of this RD/DTR profession-specific or IPCE activity awards CPEUs (One IPCE credit = One CPEU). If the activity is dietetics-related but not targeted to RDs or DTRs, CPEUs may be claimed which are commensurate with participation in contact hours (One 60 minute hour = 1 CPEU. Successful Completion

To receive a Statement of Credit, you must complete the entire course in real-time and submit the required evaluation. Your Statement of Credit will be issued digitally in your learning portal upon submission of the evaluation.

To satisfy the requirements for renewal of certification for the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE), continuing education activities must be diabetes related and approved by a provider on the CBDCE list of Approved Providers (www.ncbde.org). CBDCE does not approve continuing education. The Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists is on the CBDCE list of Approved Providers.

Board Certified Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM)

ADCES is the administering body for the Advanced Diabetes Management credentials. Continuing education programs offered by ADCES can be used toward fulfilling BC-ADM Certification and recertification requirements.

Other Health Professionals

It is the responsibility of each participant to determine if the program meets the criteria for re-licensure or recertification for their discipline.
