AADE has combined two previously published practice papers, discussing obesity in diabetes and medications used in weight loss. By combining these practice papers, diabetes educators now have a single resource to reference when educating individuals on the impact of obesity on diabetes and vice versa, diabetes on obesity.

The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) met in Chicago at the end of 2017 to launch a collaborative effort that increases screenings and referrals for people at risk for diabetes.
