I know it's been a while since the Annual Meeting, but in my last blog I started to share with you some of the new products that were exhibited at AADE11. I promised you a few more, so here they are:
Clemmy’s Rich and Creamy Ice Cream – this is a premium ice cream (meaning it has the required amount of cream, according to the owner) which claims it is the ONLY sugar free ice cream. There are 8 flavors and the nutrition content states that most have 20 – 22 gms of carbs per ½ cup serving. The 2 samples I had were very creamy and tasty. For more information, you can visit them online at www.clemmysicecream.com/.
Walden Farms - Offered samples of their syrups, spreads and dressings. Several of my patients LOVE their pancake syrup. The company will send free samples. www.waldenfarms.com/
Cary’s Sugar Free Syrup - I had samples of their tasty product. They area also very generous with samples. www.sbamerica.com/Carys/Carys_History.htm
Zevia All Natural Sodas (sweetened with Stevia) - This was a new product for me! There are about 9 different flavors, and if you contact them, they are very willing to send samples and coupons for health fairs or patient education. http://www.zevia.com/
FlatOut - One of the new bread products available now. On their flyer it states it has 90 calories, 60% less net carbs and is “2 points” in PointsPlus by Weight Watchers. It was quite tasty. You can get more info at www.flatoutbread.com.
Milner-Fenwick is an old favorite and they introduced their 2011 Diabetes Patient Education Media Catalogue. They also have newly updated PowerPoint Presentations and Diabetes Patient Handouts. http://www.milner-fenwick.com/
Also interesting was Sticky Jewelry which has a wide variety of ID bracelets, chains, pendants and dog tags. You can get more info at [email protected].
This is definitely not an all inclusive list. There were close to 300 exhibitors and no way that I can list them all. But I wanted to share with you a few that I thought you might find interesting and informative for your clients. Keep your eyes open while perusing journals or websites for items you think might benefit your patients. I think discussing new products with patients falls into Problem Solving section of the AADE7 and may be just what motivates your patient to improve their self care.
Are there any new products out that you are loving? Share them with me!
