Why do you love being a member?
I love the networking, friendships and educational opportunities provided by being an ADCES member.
What is your favorite part about being a diabetes care and education specialist?
My favorite part of being a diabetes care and education specialist is the opportunity to help people manage their diabetes so that they can live life to the fullest. I recently helped my cousin take control of her health by losing weight and exercising and she was able to get off of insulin after more than 12 years. She didn’t even know that was a possibility.
Top five ADCES resources/programs?
The ADCES Annual Conference, participation on the State Board, subscriptions to ADCES in Practice, free continuing education opportunities and access to danatech.
What is one piece of advice you would give to a new diabetes care and education specialist or someone considering the profession?
Learn as much as you can from current diabetes care and education specialists. Nothing compares to the experiences that they can share. And get involved with your local ADCES chapter- the more you put into this the more you will get out of it.
