Largest Conference Dedicated to Diabetes, Prediabetes and Cardiometabolic Care and Education Opens in Baltimore, MD This Week

ADCES22 takes place this week, from Friday, Aug. 12 to Monday, Aug. 15 in Baltimore, Maryland. The four-day conference focuses on topics impacting diabetes, prediabetes and cardiometabolic care including diabetes technology and devices, new models of care and population management, psychosocial and behavioral aspects of care, pharmacotherapies, and self-management behaviors. 

The Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists’ (ADCES) 2022 Annual Conference (ADCES22), takes place this week, from Friday, Aug. 12 to Monday, Aug. 15 in Baltimore, Maryland. The four-day conference focuses on topics impacting diabetes, prediabetes and cardiometabolic care including diabetes technology and devices, new models of care and population management, psychosocial and behavioral aspects of care, pharmacotherapies, and self-management behaviors.  

Highlights include an exhibit hall with exhibitors showcasing the latest in diabetes technology and therapeutics, 135+ live education sessions across 7 tracks worth a total of 44 continuing education credits (through in-person and on-demand sessions), industry coffee talks about new industry products and services, and research posters with emerging science in the field of diabetes care and education. 

Keynote speakers include Heidi Grant, PhD on Friday, sharing strategies to improve individual and team performance; Fatima Cody Stanford, MD, MPH, MPA, MBA, FAAP, FACP, FAHA, FAMWA, FTOS and Scott Kahan, MD, MPH on Saturday, sharing strategies to reduce weight stigma among patient populations; and Sherita Hill Golden, MD, MHS, FAHA and Andrea Cherrington, MD on Sunday, showcasing strategies to increase health equity in urban and rural settings. 

Themed days will feature sessions on key topics in care and education:  

  • Friday: Diabetes and Cardiometabolic Conditions  

  • Saturday: Prevention, Prediabetes and Pediatrics  

  • Sunday: Technology and Challenges in Diabetes Care  

  • Monday: Maximizing Engagement with Diabetes Services  

Special sessions will also support the business of diabetes care provision by providing strategies to grow diabetes self-management education and support (DSMES) services and prevention programs, considerations for leveraging social media in professional branding, and best practices for telehealth service delivery. 

Special events include hands-on virtual trainings, education theaters, live Q&A sessions and more than 75 posters on the latest in diabetes, prediabetes and cardiometabolic care.
