Dexcom is in the process of discontinuing Dexcom G6. They are working in phases to transition all of their customers to Dexcom G7 and stand-alone Dexcom G6 systems are the first phase.

Dexcom has shared information that they are in the process of discontinuing Dexcom G6. They are working in phases to transition all of their customers to Dexcom G7 and stand-alone Dexcom G6 systems are the first phase.

Healthcare providers should inform patients using the Dexcom G6 system about the discontinuation and the option to upgrade to the Dexcom G7. To qualify for a free Dexcom G7 receiver, patients must meet the following criteria:

  • They are current users of the Dexcom G6 system, including the receiver.
  • They are not using an automated insulin delivery system.
  • They do not already possess a Dexcom G7 receiver.
  • They do not have coverage for the new Dexcom G7 receiver under their insurance plan.

Physicians and others should prescribe the Dexcom G7 CGM system for eligible patients. Patients using automated insulin delivery systems can continue to use Dexcom G6 until Dexcom G7 pump integrations become available. Patients with Medicaid insurance will retain access to Dexcom G6 until Medicaid coverage for Dexcom G7 becomes available in their respective states.

For additional information, healthcare providers can visit Dexcom.com/G7.
