A technology conference designed for everyone

Fall is my favorite time of year! But not for the usual reasons. Sure, the weather is crisp and pumpkin spice looms in the air. Football, basketball and baseball seasons magically converge. But what really makes fall great is the annual ADCES Diabetes Technology Conference, scheduled for December 9th & 10th in downtown Chicago.
Think of it as a mini-annual-ADCES-meeting, with a focus on all things technology. There will be plenty of exhibitors and networking opportunities, and a chance to wear a personal CGM (if you’re brave enough to see how Chicago deep-dish pizza affects you). But best of all, the educational sessions are designed with everyone in mind. Intimidated by anything with a button? There are sessions just for you. Fancy yourself a genius with data? There are sessions for you. Somewhere in-between? You get the idea.
This year, there are a couple of sessions that really caught my attention. Celia Levesque NP/CDCES from Houston, TX will attempt to compare/contrast the various insulin delivery methods currently on the market. And Amy Hess-Fischl/Jill Weissberg-Benchell will explore the issue of clinician burnout in a session aptly entitled “When Technology Sucks”. And if you’re looking for a quality orientation to insulin pump therapy and the latest hybrid closed loop technologies (or just need an hour to nap quietly at your table), check out my session on Friday morning at 11am.
