Helpful References for Type 1 Teens, Parents and Educators

Mar 31, 2011, 01:00 AM

I recently was asked to review a newly published workbook for teens with type 1 diabetes and their parents. As I looked at the excellent material in the workbook, trying to figure out how to incorporate it into my practice, I thought of how many wonderful resources are available for the diabetes educator to share. It is often difficult to spend time reviewing them all and choosing the best. Being a person that likes hold the material in my hands, I still like the concept of using books in addition to internet sites.

In an effort to collect a list of excellent resources for teens with diabetes , their parents and diabetes educators, I phoned a number of educators throughout the United States that work with teens, and asked them to provide a list of their favorites to share. I hope you will consider purchasing a few for your own library, and sharing them with others.
