Description

In this webinar, we will review the available diabetes technologies, including Automated Insulin Delivery (AID) Systems and Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGM) in the United States and discuss considerations when supporting the person with diabetes in device selection.

Learning Outcome

The overall goal is for learners to report increased confidence in the ability to guide people with diabetes in selecting the device that best supports their individual diabetes goals.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:
– Summarize the basics of each AID system and CGM device available in the United States
– Identify key differentiators between devices that may help match the right device to the right person
– Explain ways in which clinicians can help support the person with diabetes in selecting a device, with emphasis on practical and clinical factors that support each individual's goals and quality of life

Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) 

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, the Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialists

To satisfy the requirements for renewal of certification for the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE), continuing education activities must be diabetes related and approved by a provider on the CBDCE list of Approved Providers (www.cbdce.org). CBDCE does not approve continuing education. The Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists is on the CBDCE list of Approved Providers.

Board Certified Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM)

CBDCE is the administering body for the Advanced Diabetes Management credentials. Continuing education programs offered by ADCES can be used toward fulfilling BC-ADM Certification and recertification requirements.

Other Health Professionals

It is the responsibility of each participant to determine if the program meets the criteria for re-licensure or recertification for their discipline.
