Description

The Gestational Diabetes Online Course is a self-paced, four-module course that provides an in-depth overview of the diagnosis and management of gestational diabetes. Through interactive case studies and evidence-based information, learners will review disease state, the role of nutrition and physical activity, glucose monitoring, and medication management. The DCES will learn practical tips to assist with shared decision making to improve the quality of care for the pregnant person with GDM. Social Determinants of Health have been highlighted in each module. Use of the course material should be relative to each DCES’ licensure, registration, and scope of practice.

Learning Outcome

Learners will report increased confidence in their ability to identify individuals with gestational diabetes using current evidence-based guidelines and will enhance collaboration with the multidisciplinary care team to support best practices and optimize maternal and fetal outcomes.

Intended Audience

This activity is designed for diabetes care and education specialists, including nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, physicians, PAs, social workers, and other health care providers interested in staying up to date on current practices of care for people with diabetes and other related conditions.

Course Completion

After you have completed the coursework, you will take the post-learning assessment. It has 25 multiple-choice questions. Your overall course completion will be based upon successfully passing the post-assessment with a score of 80% or better. You will get three (3) tries to pass the assessment.

After you successfully complete the post-learning assessment and evaluation, you will get access to a statement of credit, showing the CE credit you earned. Please print it for your records. (Note, you will be able to return to print it later, if needed.)

Access Period

You will have access to this learning activity for a period of six months after you enroll, or whenever the activity's CE credits expire (whichever comes first).

    Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialists

    To satisfy the requirements for renewal of certification for the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE), continuing education activities must be diabetes related and approved by a provider on the CBDCE list of Approved Providers (www.cbdce.org). CBDCE does not approve continuing education. The Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists is on the CBDCE list of Approved Providers.

    Board Certified Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM)

    ADCES is the administering body for the Advanced Diabetes Management credentials. Continuing education programs offered by ADCES can be used toward fulfilling BC-ADM Certification and recertification requirements.

    It is the responsibility of each participant to determine if the program meets the criteria for re-licensure or recertification for their discipline.
