This webinar presents evidence-based strategies for preventing Type 2 Diabetes using a lifestyle medicine framework. Participants will review the pathophysiology of insulin resistance and learn how to translate the six pillars of lifestyle medicine into practice. The session also reviews long-term data demonstrating risk reduction from intensive lifestyle interventions and contrasts this comprehensive therapeutic model with conventional programs with the National Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP).
This webinar counts toward the CDC requirement of 2 hours of continuing education for lifestyle coaches.
Learning Outcome
At the conclusion of this activity, participants will report increased confidence in applying Lifestyle Medicine principles to develop patient centered prevention strategies for prediabetes, distinguish them from the National DPP, and identify measurable metabolic outcomes to assess effectiveness.

• Discuss the pathophysiologic drivers of Type 2 Diabetes development.
• Differentiate the Lifestyle Medicine approach from the National DPP.
• Interpret key findings from landmark prevention trials and long-term follow-up studies supporting intensive lifestyle intervention.
• Design a prevention plan incorporating all six pillars of Lifestyle Medicine.
• Apply an interprofessional care model to deliver sustainable, equity-centered diabetes prevention strategy.
• Identify at least 2 measurable clinical outcomes beyond weight loss.
